Raising kids is hard, and almost any busy mom can attest to that. If your current schedule includes managing family responsibilities, children, work, and more, finding time to exercise can seem impossible. Incorporating exercise into your daily routine can seem difficult. Here are some ways to help you find time to exercise to stay fit and healthy.

A simple and effective way to help you move more during the day is to use the stairs instead of the elevator. Taking the stairs increases your heart rate, improves strength and helps you balance. If you want to make it more difficult, you can go up two steps at a time or raise your heels slightly to strengthen the calf. (Crouch, 2021)

If you are in a safe and well-lit area, park a short distance from the entrance to wherever you are going. By adding a few minutes of walking time, you can increase the number of steps you take each day.

One of the biggest challenges for busy moms is finding “alone time” to exercise. While it’s great to work without distractions, it’s not always possible. You can play games with your kids like a game of tag. You can also invest in a child seat for your bike or let your kids ride bikes with you if they are age appropriate. Many mothers also choose to walk or run with strollers. (Torres, 2016)

Dancing is a great way to exercise and burn calories while working on coordination and balance. You can turn it off while you cook dinner, vacuum, or do laundry. Put on some music, get the kids involved and have fun as you plan your own dance party.

While watching your favorite TV series is a great way to relax, it can also be a great opportunity to add some exercise to your day. You can walk on a treadmill, use weights to strengthen your upper or lower body, do Pilates, or stretch while watching TV. A few minutes of exercises such as bicep curls or push-ups with light hand weights can help with posture, strength and well-being.

Working moms are almost always busy, and sometimes you can find some time for yourself. If you feel like you don’t have enough time to exercise, you’re definitely not alone. This is normal and something every busy mom goes through. Here are some tips to keep in mind to make exercise a reality.

Prioritizing exercise is important because you can’t take care of your family if you don’t take care of yourself. Try and make time every day to exercise. This can help you plan your day and set it as an appointment so you don’t miss it.

If you exercise before the kids wake up, you don’t need to exercise during the day. Many obligations and tasks may arise during the day. This is another reason why it is a good time to exercise early in the day.

Make a workout plan so you don’t waste time thinking about what to do at the gym. You can also organize your clothes and workout gear so you don’t waste time choosing a wardrobe.

There may be days when you can’t stick to your exercise routine. If this happens, try not to put pressure on yourself or compare yourself to other mothers. Always try to accept your time and use it effectively. Creating a support group of like-minded parents can also be very helpful.

5 Tips To Help You Stay Motivated To Exercise

Something as simple as walking or exercising can help keep your body in good shape and boost your confidence, improving your overall quality of life. Physical activity is very important when living in an assisted living facility because it can keep you healthy enough to participate in social activities and enjoy trips to local attractions. Getting enough exercise can also help you avoid health problems that make it difficult to move from an assisted living facility to a nursing home.

Unfortunately, many adults do not exercise as much as they should. According to a 2016 report published by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 25.4% of adults aged 50 to 64 do no physical activity outside of work. Inactivity is more common among seniors 65 and older, leading to increased risks of cancer, repeated falls, cognitive decline, and disabilities that prevent seniors from performing all the necessary activities of daily living.

Balancing Running With Life: Tips For Busy Runners

The good news is that it’s never too late to start exercising—regardless of your age or a chronic condition—like arthritis. As a resident of an assisted living facility, you have more opportunities to exercise than most seniors living at home. This guide explains the importance of exercise for adults and provides a list of exercises you can do in your assisted living facility, community center or gym.

One of the benefits of assisted living is that many communities have health programs for residents. Participating in one of these programs has many physical, social and psychological benefits.
