As a former college student who ate all of her meals at home, I feel especially qualified to write this post about healthy eating on a budget. I really knew how to stretch my dollar at the grocery store, and I hope you find some helpful advice from me here.
Believe it or not, I used to be able to eat $30-$50 a week eating mostly whole foods and stick to that budget pretty well!
Of course, meal planning is essential to eating healthy on a budget, so it’s one of the best ways to save money.
Heart Healthy Eating Pattern
You need to be organized, and that includes planning simple, quick recipes that don’t use a lot of fancy, expensive ingredients.
A meal plan is much easier to write if you can commit to doing it on a specific day of the week. I always do my work on Sundays. I sit down and look at my social calendar and then prepare recipes accordingly.
